  • Led the AI development, DevOps and SRE team for an enterprise client with a global footprint, automating business requirements to save time and resources.

ML for automated security compliance mapping

Built and evaluated an end-to-end ML pipeline that maps security controls across compliance frameworks (NIST SP 800-53, CSF 2.0, CIS v8.1 and SCF): the manual crosswalking work that consumes expert assessor time in every regulated organisation.

Recall@10 finding candidate control matches across frameworks with a fine-tuned bi-encoder, against 0.238 for a lexical baseline. Statistically significant.

Macro-F1 over the majority baseline predicting the NIST relationship type between control pairs (equal, subset, superset, intersects) on the largest framework pair, with non-overlapping confidence intervals.

Python 3.12, PyTorch, sentence-transformers and MLflow experiment tracking, with 143 automated tests in CI, frozen data splits with hash-verified provenance, and paired-bootstrap significance testing with multiple-comparison correction on every claim. All results are on open, authoritative NIST and SCF data, including honestly reported negative results: cross-encoder re-ranking added nothing over the fine-tuned bi-encoder, and the evaluation proves it.

Autonomous robotic navigation in Unity (C#)

December 2024

An autonomous robot-car navigation system built in Unity, applying artificial-life techniques to robotics. Working strictly within a provided Unity model, the simulated car traverses a track populated with obstacles. Success was measured on distance travelled, completion time and smoothness of trajectory.

Infectious disease spread simulation in NetLogo

November 2024

An agent-based model of how an infectious disease spreads between two distinct populations over a set timeframe, assessing the effect of local versus free movement, social distancing versus none, and self-isolation on infection and mortality rates.
